Use this total to scope the resources the plan requires. It is a spending budget before revenue, not a cash-flow forecast. The timing of payments, collections, taxes, debt, and funding can change how much cash you need at any point.

Useful numbers.
Clear assumptions.
Base budget = one-time setup costs + (monthly operating costs × planning months) · Total planned budget = base budget + chosen contingency
The budget adds your one-time and monthly costs over the selected period. It does not forecast revenue or subtract sales, grants, investment, or existing cash. The contingency percentage is your own scenario assumption, applied to the base budget.
Include taxes, insurance, working capital, delivery costs, and other obligations in the relevant categories when they apply. This simple budget does not model payment timing, inflation, financing costs, or a cash reserve. Use the runway calculator separately to examine monthly cash movements.
