THE MARKET THESIS

The practical opportunity sits between infrastructure and everyday operation: efficient buildings, dependable power, resilient cooling, and tools that turn equipment into a service people can afford.

01 / THE EVIDENCE, DRAWN TO SCALE

Make the scale visible.

This is the quantity reported by the cited institution. It is context for a question, rather than a forecast of startup revenue.

The IEA estimates global clean-energy investment at USD 2.2 trillion in 2026. This is capital expenditure across a broad energy system, not the addressable market of a startup or a city.International Energy Agency

The IPCC identifies efficiency, demand management, and changes in infrastructure use as part of mitigation. Its findings also distinguish groups needing more energy services from those able to reduce high consumption.IPCC

01 / FOLLOW THE SYSTEM

Follow the value. Find the friction.

A proposed operating map for climate & energy. Read the handoffs before choosing a product to build.

  1. 01

    Measure demand

  2. 02

    Improve equipment

  3. 03

THE BUYER QUESTION

Building owners, utilities, cold-chain operators, factories, schools, clinics, and energy service companies. Identify who owns the asset, pays the energy bill, and approves changes; these can be three different organisations.

THE EXPERIMENT

Establish a metered baseline at one type of site, document outages and operating hours, then compare the intervention under similar weather and demand. A short software trial cannot establish the full lifetime economics of an energy asset.

Read the complete value chain
  1. Measure demand and reliability
  2. Improve equipment and buildings
  3. Finance installation
  4. Operate and maintain
  5. Verify savings and access

Editorial system map derived from the research brief. The sequence is a framework for discovery, with no claim that a Pheonix programme, customer or pilot is operating.

How might the business work?

Test installation plus recurring service, shared verified savings, or an operations subscription. Include equipment replacement, financing costs, insurance, and field maintenance before judging margins.

03 / PROPOSED IMPACT FRAMEWORK

Make the benefit testable.

An impact claim should survive a difficult question. Design the measurement before you design the success story.

  1. 01

    Establish the baseline

Define the people, geography, existing service and time period. Record the full cost before the intervention.

  2. 02

    Run a bounded pilot

Use the proposed experiment above as a starting question. Agree the local scope, duration, comparison and safeguards before beginning.

  3. 03

    Compare the outcome

Ask what would have happened otherwise. Compare like with like and record how much uncertainty remains.

WHAT TO MEASURE

The outcome ledger

  • Energy per service

Energy consumed per unit of useful service

  • Verified emissions

Verified emissions change with a stated grid factor

  • Reliability & cost

Hours of reliable service and customer energy cost

  • Equitable benefits

Share of benefits reaching underserved users

Keep the counter-evidence.

Check who is left out, what the intervention costs and which negative effects would invalidate the claim. Involve the people expected to benefit.

Proposed measurement pathway. No baseline, pilot result, participant count or achieved impact is being reported in this diagram.

WATCH THE TRADEOFF

What could change the case?

A cheaper service can increase total consumption: measure rebound effects.

Grid factors, tariffs and equipment lifetimes can change the investment case.

Installation and maintenance capacity may constrain growth before software does.

QUESTIONS BEFORE THE FIRST PILOT
  1. Which failure is the buyer already paying to solve?
  2. Can the savings repay the full installed cost without a subsidy?
  3. Who receives the financial and resilience benefits?

Follow the evidence.
